So I got into grad school (again). There's a long story here. Here's the Abridged Shakespeare Company's version of it:
Around this time last year...
Me: I'd like to go to school here to get my PhD in Modern Chinese History. I'll be working full-time and only be a part-time student, but I don't need funding and I already have half the degee done, since I already have an MA from here in a East Asian studies. Can I just apply for the Spring semster, since it's coming up in a few months?
Dryope submits her application and waits for several months.
One month after the admission deadline.
Them: We can't accept your application. We've decided to eliminate Spring Admissions.
Me: But you said...
Them: Yeah, well, what're gonna do?
I resubmit for the Fall, and, in February...
Them: You got in to the MA program!
Me: So what happened to the whole PhD thing?
